fall cleaning

Recently I decided it was well overdue and I needed to do a major closet clean out! Not only did I need to get rid of some questionable clothing... but I needed to organize so I actually know what I own to make my morning routine go a little quicker and smoother.

okay, it might not look like a big change but OH MY GOODNESS it is! Now I just need for Jeff to go out of town and I can start on thinning out his band t shirts!... seriously no one needs that many Metallica shirts!

7 months

I promised I would not be someone who started a blog and then did not keep up with it... well my pregnancy blog should have been a red flag. The fact that I couldn't even update every week when I was childless, I have no clue why I thought I would be supermom and add blogging to my daily routine... Where has the time gone? It is unbelievable how quickly the months have flown by. We have been staying very busy with work, daycare, family and friends. Adelyn is now 7 months old this past weekend! She is changing everyday!

Milestones:
-eats in her highchair
-sits up all by herself
-two bottom teeth... and knows how to use them
- says "dada" and Jeff swears she knows what it means... I am still skeptical
-sleeps on her belly
-beginning to crawl... well scoots all over the place
-wears 6-9 month clothes
-97% in height...?
-still has RED hair!!!!

Tomorrow is Halloween and my little stinker is a goldfish!!

grown up time?

Before Jeff and I welcomed our precious darling into this world, we always made sure to have a great time hanging out just the two of us together and we found that was still possible with our little Addy. When we have a weekend and no other plans we like to spend it at home with no plans and always find a way to have a great time... This was a very good example of that...

It may be 2012 but we still enjoy us some good Rock Band!

FOOD!

If I were my Mom or my Aunt Coll, I would have given Adelyn rice cereal at 4 weeks... Well I was all about waiting until 6 months because that's what "doctors" say... well my doc said screw that (not really) and I let Addy try rice cereal at 4 months and 3 weeks, here are the results...
"you said I can have real food?"
"bring it Mom, I am pumped!"
"ummmm I'm not so sure about this"
"Yeah... no thank you!!"

SUMMER....

Where did summer go...wait where did the last 5 months go? My little stinker will be 5 months next week and I absolutely can not believe where the time has gone. I have been so blessed to have so much precious time with my baby but it is only making it that much harder to leave her! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE her caregiver!! Sandy is such an amazing part of our family now and Adelyn LOVES her already! That does not by any means make it a breeze to leave her every morning at 7am when I am use to spending every moment with her. I do feel that I am adjusting pretty darn well with the help of amazing support at school and even wonderful teachers sharing a cry with me in the mornings, I couldn't ask for more! :)

almost 5 months!
Not only am I adjusting to leaving my little stinker but I am trying to wrap my head around getting back into "school" mode. I have spent a couple of days up there and I am getting more and more excited about this year! Not only am I preparing my classroom but I am thrilled to be around amazing people and have some "adult" conversations! This year will be great! Every year I learn so much from all of my amazing kiddos and I am so very excited to see what is to come for this year!

Adelyn's Baptism

We are so blessed that Adelyn had so much love and support surrounding her in the celebration of her baptism. It was such a great day spent with family and great memories made as always! I am so lucky to have such a close family and it meant the world to you all that were there to support Adelyn on her special day!

Colleen Moore

June 29, 2012 we lost one of the most inspirational people I have ever known. My amazing Aunt Colleen went to be with Papa and is now with us forever watching over us all! I can't even begin to explain how much Aunt Coll touched my life! I am so blessed to have spent so many wonderful memories with her and my daughter had the privilege of knowing and loving Aunt Coll. She left us too soon, but I know she is now in a greater place!

Aunt Colleen I miss you so much and love you more than you could ever know! Thank you for the hot tea, special treats and teaching me that there is no such thing as too much GLITTER!!!

bikes and beer

Sunday Ashley and I ventured out to the Urban Assault Ride for our third year in a row! New Belgium Brewing company puts on this adventure/scavenger bike race each year and it entails lots of riding throughout the city, finding checkpoints and ending with fun contests/prizes and lots of yummy beer! This year Ash and I decided to step it up a notch and make costumes... homemade pink and yellow tutus, lulu matching shirts and topped off with a little flare on our helmet. Who would have thought that a couple of crazy tutus would get us entered into the costume contest where we did not win... but as runner ups received a pair of Zeal sunglasses! Don't worry, we already have a winning idea for next year! We had a ton of fun and ended up being some of the last people to leave the party! Not only did I have a great day with my sister, but it was also my first night/full day away from Adelyn. Jeff was on baby patrol and I was able to go out to dinner and drinks with friends Saturday night before the big race! Lets just say it was a much needed night/day! I most definitely missed my little darlin but knew she was having a blast having dad/daughter time!

I am really looking forward to this weekend:: long weekend at the lake, 4th of July and I am getting another night away... this time with my best friend GIE... watch out Houston!

bargain buys

If you know me well, then you know I am a huge bargain shopper! My sister and I pride ourselves in how well and how often we shop at discount stores such as Marshalls, TJ Maxx. Ross, etc... We have to give credit to our fabulous mother who introduced us to searching through racks at a very young age, we mastered this skill before it was "cool" to shop there. I remember when we I was in middle school and high school and we would shop at TJ's and I use to get so mad that we wouldn't go to the mall! My mom tried to explain to us that we could get so much more by just doing a little work looking at these stores. At that time it did not matter to me... all I wanted was a shirt that said "Abercrombie"! (so dumb)

Well I want to thank my mother for teaching me so young, because now I'm pretty sure the ladies at Marshalls know me as I walk in! I love it when people ask where I got something and I quickly realize that EVERYTHING I am wearing is from one of those stores! (don't get me wrong, I still allow myself to splurge on some good old Anthro) The best thing now is shopping for baby clothes! It blows my mind people that spend tons of money on baby clothes when you can get the SAME thing for SO much cheaper!

Here are a couple of my purchases from Ross yesterday...

baby jammies ($4.99 & $1.49)

bamboo drawer organizers ($12.99)

picture frames ($4.99 each)

spaghetti measure ($4.99)

picture for Adelyn ($4.99)

LAUGHING!

The last couple of days Adelyn has begun to show closer signs to really laughing. She has had those squeaky little bits of a laugh but this morning she did it! A full blown real person laugh!! It may be one of the best sounds in the entire world!

after hours

I have to admit I am a VERY lucky mom when it comes to Miss Adelyn's sleep. She has been the most amazing baby plus a wonderful sleeper! Since about 1 month she began a pretty good sleep pattern and would only wake once or twice in the middle of the night to eat. At about 2 months she only was waking up once around 3am to eat for about 15 min and then would fall right back to sleep till 6am. Now she is sleeping through the night from about 7:30pm-6:00am. It is amazing! It is so wonderful to be able to spend all day with my baby girl and then have a couple hours at night to relax and maybe catch an episode of Mad Men.

I have always been a morning person, so I look forward to waking up each morning at 6am with her! Jeff is such a big help, his job is to get her from her room and bring her down stairs and then I will feed her and begin my day! If she eats and goes back to sleep, I have a chance to shower and eat before she wakes up again! Now sometimes she decides that is not an option and Jeff and I try to work out some way for us to both be presentable to the world. I always try to make it a point to get up and shower in the morning because I know otherwise there may never be a chance.

I can tell you that I have never watch so much TV in my life. I know it may sound weird, but when your child eats 6 sometimes more times a day for about 40 min a time... that's a lot of sitting and watching TV. That being said... We need some new good TV from 12-3!

my evening... monitor watching Addy, facebook stalking, painting my nails and a glass of wine

Just saying hi

tutu takeover

Today I began the what I thought would be a quick simple project... making tutus for the Urban Assault bike ride that Ash and I will be riding in this Sunday. This will be our third year to ride in this and it is such a blast!! We decided to take it up a notch this year and make tutus! Well... being the procrastinator I am (Ashley is no better) I started this today. Adelyn and I made a quick trip to Hobby Lobby and in between naps I began tutu #1. No doubt they will be awesome, but they will probably take a couple of days to complete. I thought I would show Adelyn the work so far and she couldn't get enough. I will have to make her a mini when I am finished!
